Forensic Examination of Digital Video Security Systems provides a comprehensive understanding of the digital technologies of this video evidence. Students will be introduced to an assortment of tools available for recovering, analyzing, and clarifying this video evidence. Extensive hands-on exercises allow the students to explore the tools presented and practice the techniques demonstrated.
This class includes extensive work with Adobe Photoshop CS3 for forensic digital imaging processes. CS3 and Adobe Bridge will be used to tackle specific issues related to Digital Video Security Systems including correcting compression artifacts, rectifying aspect ratios, reducing noise in images, and amending lens distortions.

In this course students will learn:
  • Basic technology of digital video security systems
  • Recovery techniques and guidelines for working with digital systems
  • Digital video file playback and processing techniques utilizing a variety of tools
  • Image processing techniques for clarifying digital video evidence
  • Capabilities of Adobe Photoshop CS3 and Adobe Bridge for processing video evidence

Requirements:

Computer Skills

Basic computer skills are required to complete this training.

In addition, students are expected to bring their own laptops to class with a working copy of Adobe Photoshop CS3 and have Administrator Privileges for their user logon account. A trial edition of Photoshop CS3 is available from the Adobe website. If you are unable to meet these requirements, laptops are available for rent during class time.

Participation
Multiple hands-on exercises will be included during each module. Class participation is required in order to achieve successful completion of the class.
