








This class provides the student with a comprehensive understanding of the analog and digital technologies of video evidence. Students will be introduced to a variety of tools available for handling the typical challenges faced when working with video evidence and the options for producing derivative evidence that maintains the integrity of the original evidence. As a hands-on class, students will be given the opportunity to work with and clarify video evidence using a variety of tools including Signalscape Starwitness systems, Adobe Photoshop, and Sony Vegas.

- Video evidence handling procedures
- Methods for producing a working copy for both analog and digital video evidence
- Common video clarification techniques
- Common image clarification techniques
- Output methods for investigative and court purposes

Day 1
- Understanding video technology and CCTV security systems

Day 2
- Forensic filters for processing analog video evidence

- Image and video evidence clarification techniques
Day 3
- Producing prints from video evidence
- Options for producing videotapes and video files from video evidence
- Requirements for case file documentation
- Archival methods for video evidence
