Photoshop can be a powerful resource in the forensic video analysis workflow. Adobe Photoshop for Forensic Video Analysts is a 4-day class that is designed to introduce and build upon image processing techniques for the Forensic Video Analyst. This thorough workshop is recommended for analysts with limited experience using Adobe Photoshop, those using previous versions, or for those wishing to learn the new powerful features of Adobe Photoshop CS4.

Students are expected to bring a laptop to class with the Adobe Photoshop CS4 software installed. A trial version is available from the Adobe website. For more information contact

In the first two-days, you will be introduced to the key features of Adobe Photoshop CS4 and Adobe Bridge for use in the Forensic Video Analysis process. You will discover best practices for image processing by learning:
  • The basics of digital imaging theory
  • Export settings from Forensic Video computer systems to maximize the quality of images
  • An efficient workflow for processing images from video evidence
  • Pixel aspect ratio correction techniques, de-interlace options, and basic image adjustments
  • Preparation techniques for printing processed images

The third and fourth days focus on the application of the tools available in Adobe Photoshop CS4 and Adobe Bridge for Forensic Image Analysis. You will explore more advanced tools used in the forensic video analysis workflow including:
  • Using sophisticated automations and actions to process images from video evidence
  • Employing custom filters for de-blurring, sharpening and pattern elimination techniques
  • Applying color isolation processes for image clarification
  • Employing layer modes to build image processing levels
